Final Quest: Free-to-Play RPG Brave Closing Its Doors in May 2025
The choice comes after the most recent wave of staff reductions impacting the “majority” of employees at Phoenix Labs
Phoenix Labs has declared that its free-to-play RPG, Brave, will indeed be going offline on May 29, 2025. After this date, it will not receive any additional content or updates.
The studio conveyed this information in a post on social media and provided a detailed statement on its Discord server (as reported by GamesRadar).
“This was not an easy choice, and we want to express our appreciation to our players, partners, and the talented developers who brought Dauntless to life,” the company mentioned. “To our community, your enthusiasm, creativity, and commitment made Brave more than just a game – it transformed into a shared world and a place where friendships thrived.
“We understand there were moments when we fell short, but we consistently aimed to provide you with the best experience possible. We are grateful for your input, patience, and support throughout the years.”
Brave debuted in September 2019 and became available on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S in 2021.
The closure of Brave follows a recent round of layoffs at Phoenix Labs, which resulted in the release of the “majority” of its workforce.
The studio noted at that time that the future of Brave and the farming simulation game Fae Farm was uncertain, and it would share “more information in the coming weeks.”
Staff reductions began at Phoenix Labs in 2023, when 9% of its workforce was affected.
