Bloober Team has announced its collaboration with Konami once again on yet another game.
Following the accomplishment of 2024’s Silent Hill 2 remake, the Polish studio is set to develop another title based on a publisher-owned property. Conversely, Bloober Team has described this forthcoming project as a “new game” inspired by a Konami property, instead of another remake.
Silent Hill 2’s remake has sold over 2 million copies by early February 2025. The game’s performance and excellent reception “demonstrated that [we] accurately captured the atmosphere and essence of the original while introducing key innovations,” according to Bloober Team. “The confidence built on the success of Silent Hill 2 laid the groundwork for signing a new agreement for an extraordinary project. This deal aligns with our strategic vision to expand our internal design division within a first-party framework.
“Our partnership with Konami has proven to be remarkably rewarding,” added CEO Piotr Babieno. “By collaborating and sharing insights, we were able to create [a] high-quality production together.”
Konami and Bloober’s team-up is a reveal-reveal
While Silent Hill 2’s commercial triumph “speaks for itself,” in Babieno’s opinion, the renewed collaboration between Bloober Team and Konami is advantageous for both companies.
For Bloober Team, this represents another significant publisher and property to showcase amidst self-publishing projects such as 2025’s Cronos: The Recent Dawn. The studio established a partnership in 2023 with comic publisher Skybound to adapt one of its properties for gaming, and lost another deal the following year when its collaboration with Private Division concluded.
Meanwhile, Konami has yet another developer it can rely on for Silent Hill or any other franchise it wants to rejuvenate. It has previously handed over its horror franchise to a number of third-party developers. If Bloober Team is developing a distinct IP, this indicates a willingness to collaborate that extends beyond merely Silent Hill.
