Super Mario makes his return to 4K Blu-ray next week with a new collectible edition of the 2023 film. Exclusively available at Walmart, The Super Mario Bros. Movie Limited Edition Steelbook is designed to mimic the iconic Question Blocks from the Nintendo franchise. Similar to many Walmart-exclusive versions of popular films, this new edition of the Mario Movie is more budget-friendly compared to numerous steelbook releases available today. You could preorder The Super Mario Bros. Movie Limited Edition Steelbook for $28 ahead of its March 4 release. Just recently, Walmart was pricing it at $35, so it’s reasonable to think that the price may rise again.

Walmart’s new Steelbook Edition of The Super Mario Bros. Movie is inspired by the classic Ask Block from the video games (and film). Instead of tapping it with your head to reveal its contents, you simply open it like any regular case. The inside cover features beautiful artwork showcasing the various types of gigantic mushrooms found in the Mushroom Kingdom.
The steelbook case includes slots for the 4K Blu-ray and 1080p Blu-ray discs of the film. Along with the physical release, you will also receive a digital copy of the movie. The Mario Movie is readily accessible on Movies Anywhere, enabling you to add it to your library and enjoy it on any of your devices.
Initially, Walmart listed the new edition at $28 before increasing the price to $35, where it remained throughout the year—until now, at least. With just a week left until release, Walmart has reverted to a price of $28. If you placed your order when it was $35, Walmart’s preorder policy guarantees that you’ll pay the lowest price offered before launch. Walmart does not charge until your preorder ships, and any adjustments are automatically reflected in your account.
The Super Mario Bros. Movie Power-Up Steelbook Edition (4K Blu-ray)

Walmart replenished the Power-Up Edition Collectible Steelbook when preorders first became available for the new edition last year. This version launched in 2023 and quickly sold out at major retailers.
Walmart currently has the original steelbook in stock, but you might want to hold off on grabbing a copy at its current price. The Power-Up Edition has been priced at $28 for the last couple of months, but it is currently listed at $41.63 as of February 25.
Since Walmart is the only retailer with copies on hand, this is the best price for the Power-Up Steelbook Edition. If you were to buy it from a reseller on Amazon, you would likely end up paying around $50. That said, if you’re interested in adding this collectible edition to your display, it might be wise to check back and see if the price drops further.
The Power-Up Edition features a dark case adorned with a Super Mushroom on the front and back. The inside artwork depicts a scenic view of the Mushroom Kingdom leading up to Princess Peach’s Castle. It also includes 4K Blu-ray, standard Blu-ray, and digital versions of the movie.

Mario’s long-standing rival is also set to release a steelbook soon. And no, we’re not referring to Bowser. Sonic the Hedgehog 3’s Limited Edition Steelbook is now available for preorder at Amazon and Walmart in advance of its April 15 release. Amazon also offers a special Shadow the Hedgehog-themed Limited Edition Steelbook, although it is quite challenging to find in stock.
