Western Digital’s 1TB Xbox Expansion Card is available for its lowest price since Black Friday. For a limited period, you can grab the WD Black C50 for just $110, which is a save of $40 from its original price of $150. This promotional timing is quite fitting, as Xbox has introduced numerous AAA titles with modest file sizes to Game Pass over the past few months, including the recently launched Avowed, Ninja Gaiden 2 Black, and Indiana Jones and the Huge Circle.

Installing all three titles consumes almost 300GB of internal storage. Furthermore, in just a few months, Xbox users will need to make space for Doom: The Dark Ages, which is expected to take up significant storage space. You might find yourself short on space on your internal drive quickly, especially if you are a Game Pass subscriber.

The Xbox Series X console with 1TB has 802GB of usable storage, so this version of the C50 will more than double your storage capacity for games. The WD Black 1TB C50 offers almost three times as much usable storage as the base model Series S (364GB).

Walmart features a similar offer to Amazon, although your order may ship directly from SanDisk rather than Walmart’s facility. If both retailers run out of stock, Only Buy has the 1TB C50 reduced to $116.

Western Digital also provides 512GB ($80) and 2TB ($250) options. The 2TB C50 Expansion Card is now $50 off on the 2nd, bringing Amazon’s price down from $250 to $200. The 512GB version is still available at its usual $80 price tag.

Seagate’s Expansion Card stands out as the premier officially licensed storage expansion option for Xbox Series X|S. Previously, Seagate’s Expansion Cards were quite costly, but the introduction of the C50 has led to price reductions. At present, you can find the 1TB Seagate Expansion Card for $118 (originally $150) on Amazon.

It is worth mentioning, however, that the 2TB Seagate Expansion Card is priced at $248 on Amazon, so you may want to consider the C50 if you prefer a card with greater capacity.

Western Digital and Seagate Xbox Expansion Cards offer similar performance. Simply insert the proprietary storage card into the expansion slot located at the back of your console. Your Xbox will recognize the card, allowing you to choose whether you would like to utilize internal storage or expansion storage as your primary installation location. This is the entire installation process; these truly are plug-and-play storage solutions.

Standard external hard drives can hold Xbox Series X|S games, but it’s necessary to transfer them back to the console’s internal drive to actually play them. Xbox Expansion Cards, on the other hand, can store and launch games; these clever accessories function as an extension of your SSD.
