“Exciting New Release Date for Doctor Who Season 2 Leaked Online!”
Someone might have inadvertently turned their sonic screwdriver the wrong way this week, as the launch date for the upcoming season of Doctor Who seems to have been accidentally disclosed by a BBC advertisement.
Now spreading among the stars (and social platforms), the new advertisement, which aired during the Under 20s Six Nations Rugby match between England and Scotland, features Ncuti Gatwa embodying the iconic Time Lord once more, submerged in sci-fi action prior to revealing The Doctor’s return. Unlike last season, which had Whovians captivated in May 2024, 2025 will see The Doctor returning to BBC on Saturday, April 12, presenting us with the news a whole month earlier than expected.
We don’t need Gallifreyan-level knowledge to understand that the show should still air on the same date on Disney+ in other regions since the streaming service acquired the exclusive rights in 2022. Now that the secret is out of the TARDIS, a full trailer for the show is likely to be released soon.
As always with any forthcoming adventure through time and space with The Doctor, details are quite scarce at the moment, yet one intriguing piece of information confirmed by the BBC is that Slow Horses actor Christopher Chung will portray Cassio in an episode that, based on its premise, will have us hiding behind cushions.
