Marvel Rivals Dominates PC Engagement Rankings for January 2025
The NetEase hero shooter, which recently underwent layoffs, has entered the Top 5 for total revenue
Marvel Rivals achieved a spot in the Top 5 of Newzoo’s overall revenue list for January 2025, climbing one position since its launch on December 6, 2024.
NetEase’s hero shooter held the top position for player engagement on PC and advanced from No.6 to No.2 on the platform’s revenue list.
The game also ranked in the Top 5 for PlayStation revenue. This achievement comes despite NetEase announcing layoffs at a US support studio for Marvel Rivals earlier this week.
In terms of individual revenue charts, PC welcomed two new titles: Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 and Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth.
Spider-Man 2 launched on January 30 and nearly made it into the Top 20 despite being available for only two days before the cutoff.
Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth started at No.10 after its release on January 23. It also secured the No.20 position on the overall revenue list, climbing from No.138 in December 2024.
On the Switch revenue chart, there were two new titles, with Hello Kitty Island Adventure debuting at No.6 and Donkey Kong Country Returns HD at No.8. It Takes Two entered the Top 20 in January, rising ten positions to No.15.
Regarding player engagement, it remained stable across all consoles with only minor fluctuations. However, on the individual charts, PlayStation experienced two significant changes.
Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League surged from No.223 to No.16 following Rocksteady’s announcement that it would halt support for the game. Episode 8, which was released on January 14, served as the final piece of post-launch content.
Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit Remastered soared from No.470 to No.13 as it became a free game for PS Plus subscribers throughout January.
