A must-see for retro enthusiasts
Developer Region Colony Studios and publisher Astrolabe Games have just unveiled Stories from Sol: The Gun-Dog on Nintendo Switch, delivering players a nostalgic visual novel inspired by games from the PC-9800 era.
Featuring stunning anime graphics, a thoughtfully crafted cast of characters, and over 300,000 words of narrative content, you’ll find yourself immersed in an engaging journey full of intrigue and multiple storyline options. If you also appreciate physical copies, Astrolabe Games has you covered with a special Starship Edition that includes a unique slipcover and an art book available for purchase in Europe.
This marks the first title from Region Colony Studios, but the Welsh team aims to evolve Stories from Sol into an anthology with multiple installments. We are excited to see how this release is received by players and what future plans the studio has in store. Our friends over at Time Extension have reviewed the game, noting that it “plays as well as it appears”.
For now, let’s take a look at the official synopsis:
Combat has ended. Conflict is merely commencing.
Planetary Year 214. Four years have elapsed since the conclusion of the Solar War. Our hero, marked by the loss of their teammates during the conflict, is reassigned to the Jovian patrol ship Gun-Dog, which is dispatched with orders to investigate strange signals emanating from the outskirts of Jovian Space.
Unbeknownst to the crew of the Gun-Dog, a new threat lurks deep within the cosmos, endangering not just the Gun-Dog, but all aboard.
Step into the shoes of the Gun-Dog’s security officer as you endeavor to safeguard the ship from an unforeseen peril.
