Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 Shatters Sales Records with 2 Million Copies in Just Two Weeks
The new RPG Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 has sold two million copies in less than two weeks, an incredible launch for a premium single-player game.
This news was announced in a tweet from the official Warhorse Studios Twitter account, which remarked, “a toast to you all for making KCD2 a success!” The game sold 1,000,000 copies on its first day and achieved an impressive Metacritic score, making this achievement expected. Nevertheless, it’s remarkable that it reached this milestone so quickly.
One factor that likely boosted the sales of Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is Luke Dale, the actor portraying Lord Hans Capon. He has been streaming himself playing and attempting to romance his own character.

“‘Who am I planning to romance?’ Who do you think!?” he exclaimed to his audience. “I’m a total f***ing narcissist, for crying out loud. Of course, I’m going to try and f*** myself!” It’s refreshing to see actors engaged in such unrestrained antics. It adds to the allure of the craft.
The game has also imparted a significant lesson to gaming companies. Embracer, the parent company of developer Warhorse, mentioned in a recent financial report that Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 “serves as a reminder” to release “great” games. Furthermore, they stated, “High-quality teams require the resources and time to realize their visions.” This is ironic coming from a company that has recently laid off over 1,400 employees, shut down seven studios, and canceled 29 titles, yet perhaps they should heed their own advice now.
In a world where many companies are pursuing the unending growth of live-service games, it’s refreshing to observe a strong single-player title perform so impressively. Hopefully, this serves as a lesson for other publishers to allow developers the freedom to create the games they envision and not push them towards including live-service elements where they are unnecessary.
