The Evolving Appeal of Extended Gameplay: Are Long Video Games Still Desired?
Let’s be honest, we’re not getting any younger. And for those of us still fortunate enough to claim youth, we’ll be older before we know it. With great age comes significant responsibilities, as the saying goes, but these shouldn’t be burdens like throwing a sandbag in Spider-Man’s face. No, these are responsibilities like grocery shopping, working a regular job, or cleaning dog mess off the carpet because someone had a scratchy bottom (it wasn’t me, I assure you).
The older one becomes, the more life interferes with gaming, in other terms. But is it entirely our fault? Or is it also true that video games are, perhaps ironically, becoming overly bloated?
Are video games extending too far in today’s world? Why are they becoming longer, and perhaps most importantly, does anyone genuinely want lengthy video games anymore? These are all inquiries that I ponder (and try to address) in my recent video that just went live on our YouTube channel – and you can check it out by clicking the player right below these words.
Make sure to watch the complete version before heading to the comments below, as I would really love to know what you all think about long video games in today’s context. (I’m anticipating a 50/50 split)
