Stage Zero: Extraction, the extraction shooter/asymmetrical horror fusion, is concluding its development just two weeks after its launch from Early Access.
In a Steam announcement, community manager Antishyr commented that the game “fell short of our expectations” and as a result, it is “no longer viable for our relatively small teams to maintain the game from a financial perspective.”
The latest update released on January 30 included a few minor adjustments and will “most likely” be Stage Zero’s final update.
“It pains me to witness the culmination of something I’ve dedicated years to come to an end, and I truly wish I could share exciting news or a fantastic update instead,” expressed Antishyr. “As a wise Merc stated, ‘It is what it is.’
While new announcements and events have been canceled for the time being, Antishyr confirmed that the servers will remain online “for sure” in the near future, meaning you can still enjoy the game in its current state. Moreover, wipes will continue to occur on the first Thursday of every month.
Regarding the developers at Doghowl, they just quietly revealed “a new multiplayer project” that is “intended to be a cooperative experience.” More details about the project have yet to be disclosed, but Doghowl encouraged fans to stay tuned.
