Bandai Namco Discloses 120 Job Cuts in Under a Year, Reports Reveal

Insights from the Japan Pension Provider database indicate a reduction in workforce by 117 since April 2024.

Bandai Namco has reportedly lost more than a hundred employees between April 2024 and February 2025.

As initially reported by Automaton, the total number of employees decreased by 117 during this period after comparing the company’s reported total — which noted an employment figure of 1294 — against public data from the Japan Pension Provider, which now cites 1177 employees as of February 4, 2025.

This news comes on the heels of reports that last October, the Tokyo-based company adopted a “traditionally Japanese method of downsizing by placing employees in rooms where they had nothing to do, exerting pressure for them to resign voluntarily.”

During that time, it was claimed that 200 of its then 1300 employees were assigned to these “expulsion rooms” – or “oidashi beya” – and nearly half of those individuals subsequently resigned voluntarily.

By the end of November 2024, Bandai Namco Online was dissolved and absorbed into its parent company.
