When Warner Bros. proclaimed, “That’s all, folks,” regarding Coyote vs. Acme, the online community was taken aback, realizing that the live-action Looney Tunes film has officially reached its conclusion. Unfortunately, the studio did not hesitate in shelving the project to pursue a $30 million tax deduction, and now one of the film’s stars, Will Forte, has addressed the decision.

“My feelings were that it’s absolute nonsense,” the actor shared with MovieWeb, supporting the film that the world will now never see. “It is such a wonderful movie. It deserves so much better than what it received. I can’t comprehend why the decision was made to not release it. But it truly frustrates me.”

In the film, Forte portrays a down-on-his-luck human lawyer who teams up with Wile E. Coyote for a groundbreaking lawsuit. Frustrated with ACME products continuously failing to capture his long-time target, the Road Runner, Wile E. attempts to sue the mega-corporation for all his years of trauma and possibly the excessive purchase of signs that read “HELP!” The movie also featured John Cena and Lana Condor.

Grateful that the world hasn’t forgotten about this now-canned animation, Forte remarked, “Thank you for asking about it because I love discussing the movie; I don’t want people to forget what [Warner Bros.] did to this,” His entire experience seems to embody a bittersweet sentiment, which understandably leaves him quite upset. “I appreciate them allowing us to make it, but don’t let us create something we fall in love with and then not let it see the light of day. I could understand if the project was poor, but it’s genuinely good. Hopefully, one day we’ll get to see it. I truly loved it.”

Coyote vs. Acme wasn’t the only film to face the unfortunate fate of being shelved by Warner Bros. Batgirl and Scoob! Holiday Haunt, which promised festive thrills, were also tucked away, all part of a business decision that Forte admits is not within his realm of understanding.

“Look, when it comes to Hollywood business matters, I don’t know anything. Even when a movie is received well (like ours), there’s no assurance that it’s going to be a hit,” he stated.
