Nine Essential Tips to Avoid Common Pitfalls in Re:Verse Games

What we require is marketing and promotional campaigns

Today, Capcom has announced the imminent closure of Re:Verse, its peculiar multiplayer offshoot that debuted alongside 2021’s Resident Evil Village. Following Resident Evil 3‘s bundled Resistance online mode, Capcom has now produced two rather disappointing RE multiplayer offerings in succession – and we genuinely hope they avoid making ‘Resident Evil 9’ a similar situation.

Throughout the last few years, Capcom has confirmed its ability to deliver some rather remarkable single-player experiences with RE in this timeframe. Clearly, many of these latest releases have been remakes with a solid foundation to build upon, but when you also consider the well-received Resident Evil 7 and the previously mentioned Village, it creates a rather impressive lineup.

And, while Resistance and Re:Verse haven’t detracted from how remarkable these single-player experiences have been, they do lead one to ponder what might have been developed instead – considering their budgets and development timelines. Would we have had another exceptional RE remake by this point if these two projects had not existed!

To be honest, Resident Evil and multiplayer have never really meshed well, have they? Even dating back to the Xbox 360 era, the series has produced some strange and often lackluster online entries, and we truly believe it’s time for Capcom to stop pursuing this avenue. In a world where online games require more and more content and developer focus, now might be the best moment to cease efforts in making Resident Evil multiplayer a feature.

After a series of strong rumors, things have quieted down concerning Resident Evil 9 at the moment, but we know the team is diligently working on the next major RE title. We also know that Capcom has expressed its desire to produce more remakes following the remarkable overhaul of Resident Evil 4. Regardless of their future intentions with this long-standing series, we hope they move away from these online escapades. Capcom, all we ask for are Resident Evil campaigns!
