“Adventurous Circulation: The Captivating Fusion of Zelda Dungeons and Persona Friendships Coming to PlayStation”
Dungeons of Hinterberg, an undiscovered RPG treasure that I truly enjoyed last year, is soon arriving on PlayStation consoles.
Many of you on Xbox and PC may have already experienced the allure of Dungeons of Hinterberg, but if you’ve never seen its stunning comic book-style visuals, here’s the brief overview: it’s essentially a blend of The Legend of Zelda and Persona, as bizarre as that may sound, and it’s set to launch on PS4 and PS5 on March 13.
You take on the role of a white-collar worker who breaks away from her corporate routine to enjoy a vacation in Hinterberg, a quaint area where magic and mysterious dungeons have suddenly emerged – leading the local authorities to transform the entire place into a lucrative tourist destination.
Drawing inspiration from Persona’s in-game calendar, you spend your days battling monsters and exploring dungeons, then unwind in the evenings by catching a movie, reading, shopping for gear, enhancing your social skills, or nurturing friendships with various characters. These connections reward you with, well, improved health bars or a combo counter. It’s amusing how silly games can be.
The influence from Zelda shines through in the dungeons themselves. There are over 25 scattered across four rich biomes, and you can tackle them in any order, as long as you possess the necessary skills and stats. Each dungeon is filled with unique puzzles, challenging combat, and consistently inventive mechanics. For instance, one biome might give you a magical skateboard, while another lets you trap foes in a jelly block that can also be utilized for solving puzzles. So, if the absence of fully-packed dungeons in Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom left you wanting more, this title provides a welcome change.
