Composer Winifred Phillips has received a Grammy for her contributions to Digital Eclipse’s landmark remake of Wizardry: Proving Grounds of the Mad Overlord.

Phillips triumphed in the ‘Outstanding Score Soundtrack for Video Games and Other Interactive Media’ category, which was initially introduced two years ago to celebrate compositions specifically for video games.

Other contenders in the category at the 2025 event included Pinar Toprak (Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora), Bear McCreary (God of War Ragnarok: Valhalla), John Paesano (Marvel’s Spider-Man 2), and Wilbert Roget II (Star Wars Outlaws).

In a statement following the announcement, Phillips expressed that she was “overwhelmed” by the honor.

“Creating the music for [the game] was incredibly motivating. The team at Digital Eclipse was a great source of inspiration,” she remarked.

“I truly did not anticipate [the win]. This year’s category was filled with so much talent, and I have immense respect for my fellow nominees. Being recognized is a pinnacle moment in my career. It genuinely is.”

Since the category’s inception, Grammys have been awarded to Assassin’s Creed composer Stephanie Economou and Star Wars Jedi: Survivor composers Gordy Haab and Stephen Barton.
