Roll7’s Popular Titles Rollerdrome and OlliOlli World Removed from Steam Store

Update (2/3/2025): A representative for 2K Games informed Kotaku that the creator currently possesses the rights to Rollerdrome and OlliOlli World, which were not included in the Private Division sale. The two titles are expected to return to Steam “soon,” although no additional details were provided.

Background: Rollerdrome and OlliOlli World were removed from Steam following the closure of developer Roll7 and the sale of publisher Private Division.

Last year, Bloomberg reported that Take-Two planned to shut down acclaimed UK studio Roll7 around three years after acquiring the company. This report was later confirmed by IGN a month after and ultimately verified by Eurogamer.

Simultaneously, Take-Two confirmed it had sold its Private Division label to an undisclosed buyer—later reported to be Texas-based VC firm Haveli Investments.

It remains uncertain what that means for the long-term future of the Private Division portfolio, yet as of now (as noted by PC Gamer) both Rollerdrome and OlliOlli World are still unavailable for purchase on Steam.

As of this writing, both titles are still available on other platforms such as PlayStation and Nintendo Switch.

The effective preservation of digital products remains challenging due to issues related to distribution, ownership, and technology. The unexpected removal of two highly regarded titles following a sudden studio closure and portfolio sale highlights the magnitude of the challenges faced by preservationists.

Game Developer has reached out to Haveli Investments and Take-Two for further information.
