Shortly after the rollout of a contentious new update that introduced the option to exchange cards, Pokémon TCG Pocket has acknowledged the community’s response, stating it is “actively looking into” methods for improvement.

A statement shared on social networks ceased apologizing to disappointed players, yet recognized that some limitations of the new feature were indeed “hindering players from being able to casually enjoy” the card game.

“Since launching the initial version of the trading feature recently, we have received an overwhelming amount of feedback. Thank you all for your input,” the statement from Creatures Inc began.

“The item requirements and limitations set for the trading feature were intended to avert misuse by bots and other unauthorized actions involving multiple accounts.”

As trading necessitates players to expend valuable resources and comply with a long list of limitations to create cards they haven’t already purchased, many players felt that trading was quite restrictive, particularly with its limitations on friends lists, and the fact that only one trade can be conducted at a time. At present, only cards of One, Two, Three, or Four Diamond rarity can be offered for trade, along with One Star rarity.

However, the team now states that their objective was merely to “balance” the game while “ensuring a fair environment for all players,” adding that “maintaining the enjoyment of collecting cards[…] is fundamental to the Pokémon TCG Pocket experience.”

“Nonetheless, thanks to your insights, we recognize that some of the limitations in place are preventing players from being able to casually engage with the feature.”
