“MultiVersus to Close Its Doors on May 30 Following Lackluster Performance”

The Warner Bros. platform fighting game, MultiVersus, will cease operations on May 30, according to a statement from developer Player First Games. The game was initially launched on May 28, 2024.

“We have a significant announcement to make regarding MultiVersus. After thoughtful deliberation, our upcoming Season will act as the final content update for the game,” stated a post on the company’s official blog.

“Everyone at Player First Games and Warner Bros. Games has invested immense effort and passion into this game. We will always be thankful for the tremendous support from the MultiVersus community during this journey.”

For players, online features will remain available until the conclusion of the game’s Season 5, on May 30 at 9am PST. Real money transactions for the game will cease today. Players will still have the option to engage in an offline version of the game, either solo or against AI, provided they download the latest version and log in before May 30.

Late last year, Warner Bros. Discovery President and CEO David Zaslav, along with Chief Financial Officer Gunnar Wiedenfels, expressed their concerns that the game was not meeting performance expectations.
