Analyzing the Aftermath: A Year Later, How Did “The Suicide Squad” Shift Perceptions of the Justice League?

It’s exciting, it has been quite some time!

How quickly time passes! It has been one year since Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League made its debut on Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S (as well as other consoles), and the game has certainly gone through quite a journey over the past year.

There’s simply no denying that KTJL did not meet expectations financially, with Warner Bros. acknowledging this after its release, and the Metacritic average score landed at a lackluster 61 for Xbox.

Nonetheless, we genuinely enjoyed it at the time! Here’s a snippet from our review of the game:

“Certainly, the narrative feels artificially prolonged, mission types are monotonous and the in-game shop feels like a total scam, but the writing, performances, core mechanics, and exceptional attention to detail here make sure that this group of outcasts have managed to withstand the pressure and come out unscathed.”

Despite our optimism here at Pure Xbox, Kill The Justice League seemed destined for trouble even before it was released, and Rocksteady finally announced in December 2024 that the new ‘Season’ updates would continue. However, we still got four of them in total, and the addition of an offline mode was a highly appreciated feature last December as well.

Now is truly a great moment to get involved because of the game’s significant price drop during the Xbox Lunar New Year Sale 2025, reducing it to just £6.99 / $6.99. This isn’t the first instance it has been lowered to such an astonishingly cheap price either!

But is it worth playing, even at that low price? You may have seen what we had to say, but we’re eager to hear your opinions on Kill The Justice League down in the poll and comments below. Share your thoughts with us a year later!

What did you select in the poll? Let us know in the comments section.
