Unleashing Chaos: How a Bugged Witchcraft Ability is Dominating Diablo 4 Season 7
It has been just a small over a week since Diablo 4 season 7 kicked off with its new Witchcraft abilities, and players are already taking advantage of a glitch to inflict trillions of damage and conquer the game’s most challenging content in record-breaking times.
Various Diablo 4 streamers, including Mekuna (via Polygon), are demonstrating the exploit, which seems linked to the new Witchcraft power, Decay Augmentation. In the video below, Mekuna constructs a rather unconventional Spiritborn Fireball build and utilizes Decay Augmentation to deliver Burning damage coupled with Enhanced Fireball, which amplifies damage by an additional 10% of the Witchcraft power’s Burning damage. Technically, it should be 10%, but after watching Mekuna inflict literal trillions of damage and tackle Pit Tier 150 – the game’s toughest challenge – in just minutes, I don’t believe the math adds up.

One Spiritborn player, KerkyBoi, ascended to the top of the unofficial leaderboards with an impressive 2:48 run time using a similar strategy. Mekuna’s 6:27 run is just below that at the second position as of this writing.
“It’s like magic, everything just detonates,” Mekuna comments as he meticulously clicks his way through what would otherwise be a grueling challenge for even the most potent Spiritborn setups. Mekuna himself acknowledges that he doesn’t fully understand how the exploit operates, nor whether it is a glitch or an intended feature, but I tend to lean towards it being a bug.
A representative from Blizzard informs me that the development team is aware of the exploit, classifying it as “high priority,” and assures that work is underway to resolve the issue.
The developer has shown some inconsistency in its approach to addressing Diablo 4 bugs and exploits, often resolving them swiftly and, more recently, taking an entire season to fix them.
