PlayStation Plus to Focus on PS5 Games with Limited PS4 Offerings in the Coming Year
As “numerous” players are currently on PS5.
Sony has revealed plans to shift the focus of its PlayStation Plus monthly games and Game Catalog updates towards PlayStation 5 titles starting early next year, with PlayStation 4 games being included only “occasionally” thereafter.
While announcing the details alongside its updated monthly games selection for February 2025, Sony indicated it was “adapting” the PlayStation Plus service to reflect the reality that “many of our users are currently gaming on PS5 and have moved towards redeeming and accessing PS5 titles through the Monthly Games and Game Catalog benefits.”
Consequently, PlayStation Plus Monthly Games and the Game Catalog will shift their focus to providing PlayStation 5 titles starting in January 2026. “PS4 games will no longer be a primary benefit,” Sony explained, “and will only be provided occasionally.” Nevertheless, the company did confirm that it “may still” offer titles playable on both PS4 and PS5 after this transition.
Sony also emphasized that this change will not impact the monthly PS4 games already claimed through PlayStation Plus. “You’ll still have access to games you’ve already redeemed as long as you maintain your membership,” the company stated.
