At this moment, the organization that once developed Dino Crisis video games but chose to stop in the early 2000s (Capcom), has unexpectedly released the original two games on the PC platform GOG. Yes, Dino Crisis 1+2 is currently available for purchase there – complete with new features such as improved DirectX rendering, 4K resolution support, new V-sync options, gamma adjustment, anti-aliasing, and much more.
Moreover, after the initial game’s recent release on modern PlayStation platforms last year, we’re feeling a bit envious over here on Xbox. Certainly, many of us have been yearning for a new installment in this series or perhaps a complete modern remake of these beloved titles, yet we would still love to see the classic games simply ported over to Xbox. Dino Crisis 3 remains one of the best series entries to launch on Microsoft’s console!
Clearly, we’re not alone in wanting to see more from this franchise. Last summer, a Capcom fan poll revealed that new Dino Crisis content is what fans desire most from the Japanese game developer, with over 80,000 votes cast for the iconic series. Dino Crisis has been inactive (in terms of new releases) for over two decades – DC3 was released for the original Xbox back in 2003.
Although some rather standard PC ports have sparked this small discussion, to be honest, we would still prefer to see those versions brought over to Xbox. As mentioned earlier, Capcom has included a significant number of popular quality-of-life improvements in these new versions, including modern controller support, making this a compelling case. Simple 4K releases of the first two Dino Crisis games would be greatly appreciated, Capcom!
For now, let’s quickly head over to GOG and check out these updated PC versions of Dino Crisis 1+2. Exoprimal‘s Game Pass release a couple of years ago was an admirable attempt, but it just didn’t quite fulfill our dino-shooter desires adequately. Here’s hoping we’ll be satisfied in the coming years!
