Hogwarts Legacy Celebrates 2nd Anniversary with Exciting PC Modding Support, Leaving Console Players in the Shadows
Hogwarts Legacy is set to gain official PC modding support through the platform CurseForge starting January 30, yet console gamers may not share in this development.
One Twitter user responded to developer Avalanche’s announcement about the modding support update by saying, “So the other platforms have… nothing? Are you serious? I really hope the rumors about a director’s cut version are accurate, because otherwise, it would be disheartening to provide new content exclusively to PC users.”
While console adaptations of titles such as Skyrim and more recently, Baldur’s Gate 3 offer some mod support for console users as well, it remains a regrettable reality of gaming that consoles have stringent security protocols that PCs do not. For instance, in 2016, Bethesda couldn’t deliver mod support for PS4 after Sony stated, “they will not endorse user mods the way they are intended: where users can do everything they want,” the developer remarked at that time.
Given this context, it’s understandable that fans of Hogwarts Legacy are reacting strongly to its PC update, especially since, nearly two years after its release, the game has received numerous notable console enhancements – just this past summer, an update enabled players to wear a tattered prisoner uniform with rips.
However, not all players are keen on sporting a worn-out prisoner outfit with rips. Some console gamers wish to navigate through clouds, as a video showcasing Hogwarts Legacy’s mod update illustrates.
“We need this on consoles, I’m begging,” laments one common commenter on YouTube.
“It’s like you’re on a train, yearning for the freedom that comes with driving a car,” adds another.
