BioWare appears to have bid farewell to any forthcoming updates for Dragon Age: The Veilguard, following the release this week of the game’s Patch 5.

The patch notes express gratitude to fans for their engagement with Dragon Age: The Veilguard over the past few months, while minor enhancements to quality of life were rolled out.

BioWare continues to state that it is now satisfied that the game has reached a “stable condition” and will focus on monitoring for any reports of critical game-breaking glitches, in case they arise.

The patch notes conclude with “Dareth shiral!” – which translates to ‘farewell‘ or ‘safe journey‘ in the game’s Elvish tongue. Essentially, it conveys a significant goodbye.

Earlier this week, EA announced that Dragon Age: The Veilguard had not met the developer’s internal targets, having “engaged” 1.5 million players from October 2024 until the year’s end, which was “almost a 50 percent drop from the company’s expectations.”

Last week, Eurogamer published the first statement from Dragon Age: The Veilguard game director Corinne Busche, addressing her departure from the studio.

While significant updates to Dragon Age: The Veilguard were not anticipated, and BioWare had already ruled out the possibility of downloadable content, fans have expressed their surprise at the sudden conclusion to any additional minor additions.

There had been some hope for the introduction of a New Game Plus mode, as well as more cosmetic options for character outfit designs.

Instead, Patch 5 contains numerous minor bug fixes, alongside one final quality of life adjustment: “Recommended levels have been introduced to side quests that players may receive at significantly lower levels.”
