“Nintendo’s 2024 Salary Trends: A Look at Eastern Regional Rankings”
Nintendo’s average yearly income may have dipped by 2.3 percent in 2024, yet it remains the second highest-paying firm in western Japan.
As highlighted by Automaton, the business publication Diamond Online reported salary information for companies located in Japan’s Kansai region (excluding Osaka), indicating that Nintendo employees earn an average salary of ¥9.627 million – equating to roughly $61,500 or £50,800.
Nintendo ranked second, following semiconductor company Display Holdings, which boasted an average salary of ¥10.248 million ($65.5K / £53.7K).
Diamond Online speculates that Nintendo’s average earnings have decreased due to a decline in net sales and operating profit – down 5.5 and 14.9 percent, respectively – in 2023.
However, by the end of the 2024 fiscal year in March 2024, sales increased by 4.4 percent, and operating profit rebounded by 4.9 percent, suggesting that the average salary may rise for Nintendo employees by the end of this financial year.
Nintendo is the only video game company to have been included in the rankings.
