The compilation Tetris Forever has already received several updates since its release on the Switch last year, and to kick off the new year, Digital Eclipse has released yet another update that enhances game saves, DOS graphics modes, and much more.
Here’s the complete summary from the Digital Eclipse website:
First, we are excited to announce an update to how game progress is stored in certain titles. For console games that initially featured battery backup – which means that high scores, player profiles, and game progress were saved between gaming sessions – the changes in Tetris Forever now operate in the same manner.
When you exit or restart the game, your progress will be preserved, eliminating the need to use the Save/Load features in the in-game menu. As you navigate through the challenging campaigns of games such as Tetris 2 + Bombliss on Famicom or the various modes of Super Tetris 3, you can effortlessly manage your profiles and progress. Additionally, the high score leaderboards for two MS-DOS games will also be maintained between game sessions, capturing your achievements indefinitely.
The titles benefiting from these enhanced save features include:
Famicom:
- Igo: Kyū Roban Taikyoku
- Tetris 2 + Bombliss
Super Famicom:
- Super Tetris 2 + Bombliss
- Super Tetris 2 + Bombliss Genteiban
- Super Tetris 3
- Super Bombliss
MS-DOS:
- Tetris (AcademySoft)
- Tetris (Spectrum HoloByte)
Also of interest to MS-DOS gamers, we have now expanded the graphics options for Tetris (AcademySoft), Tetris (Spectrum Holobyte), and Welltris. Select the Game Settings option in the in-game menu, and you can choose from display settings including CGA, EGA, VGA, Tandy, and Hercules, depending on the game. We understand that some players grew up with these specific visual configurations, so we aimed to replicate them as accurately as possible. There are also a few various bug fixes, including a solution for the A
