Unveiling the Next Evolution: The Nintendo Switch 2 Officially Announced
New hardware features magnetically attachable Joy-Cons and a USB-C port, ensuring backwards compatibility.
Nintendo has released its initial official preview of the Switch 2, revealing that the console is set to launch in 2025.
In a video uploaded to its YouTube channel, Nintendo displayed the console’s innovative hardware, including magnetically attachable Joy-Cons, a USB-C port, and a remarkable button on the right Joy-Con.
Last November, Nintendo confirmed that the Switch 2 will indeed have backwards compatibility and that Nintendo Online will carry over.
In this recent announcement, Nintendo indicated that backwards compatibility applies to both physical and digital games. However, it is noted that certain titles “may not be supported or fully compatible” with the new console.
The company states this may also provide additional information.
