As Xbox Developer Explain employs changing strategies, we’re becoming increasingly excited about what we might witness in the 2025 iteration of the event. We are aware of three of the titles that will be highlighted, while rumors suggest a “legendary Japanese IP” could be Xbox’s fourth game in the presentation. But, what about another shadow drop?
Inspired by 2023, when Xbox launched this unique ‘Dev Explain’ format, the team unexpectedly shadow-dropped Hi-Fi RUSH throughout the livestream. There was immense excitement surrounding the Tango Gameworks title back then, partly due to its surprise release – and we would love to see something similar occur again.
Now, whether a potential shadow drop could be that elusive fourth game, or perhaps a fifth title in the lineup, we are not entirely certain. To be honest, a surprise release seems unlikely after Microsoft skipped such an option last year, but we’re still holding out hope that Team Green might revisit this type of announcement someday!
For now, all we know for certain is that Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, DOOM: The Dark Ages and South of Midnight will be presented during the livestream, while Xbox will also “visit a surprise location to reveal another studio’s new game.” We have just over a week to wait until we discover what that surprise will entail, everyone.
