Reviving a Classic: How Diablo 4 Season 7 Channels the Spirit of a Beloved Diablo 3 Class

Diablo 4 Season 7, officially named Season of Witchcraft, introduces abilities drawn directly from Diablo 3’s Witch Doctor class, which has been notably missing from Diablo 4 since its release.

In October, Blizzard introduced the first new class support for Diablo 4 with the Vessel of Hatred DLC, alongside the incredibly adaptable Spiritborn class, which I have thoroughly enjoyed, but my true passion lies with the frog-tossing Witch Doctor class from Diablo 3. I mean, Zombie Bears, Firebat Servants, frog grenades, piranha whirlwinds (literally “Piranhado”), and Hexes… do I really need to say more? That’s the charm right there.

Interestingly, while Blizzard has yet to announce what the next new class for Diablo 4 will be, Season of Witchcraft may offer some clues. There isn’t a new class introduced in this season, but a brand new Blizzard release showcases a plethora of fresh Witchcraft abilities that culminate in the first new seasonal mechanic in over a year. Many of these new abilities are borrowed from Diablo 3’s Witch Doctor class, including all of the aforementioned except, unfortunately, Zombie Bears.

There’s more than just Witch Doctor abilities in Season 7 – a lot more – and they are categorized into subgroups: Eldritch, Psyche, and Growth & Decay. Any class can utilize Witchcraft abilities, but I particularly enjoy gearing up as a tattooed Necromancer and role-playing as a Witch Doctor. You can unlock forces by tracking down Headrotten and completing new Direct bounties, which grant you seasonal Reputation at The Coven. After that, simply head to one of the Witches’ Altars to unleash your inner Witch Doctor.
