Incredibly, this February marks the 25th anniversary of The Sims franchise – that’s a full two and a half decades filled with “yibs,” “neibs,” and enigmatic “incidents” involving ladder-less swimming pools – and EA is commemorating the milestone with an array of activities, including complimentary updates, limited-time events, premium DLC, and more.

The 25th anniversary festivities for The Sims officially kick off on February 4th, with a “massive” complimentary The Sims 4 update introducing over 70 new items across both Create a Sim and Buy Mode. Expect to see turtlenecks, bodysuits, bike shorts, accessories, and hairstyles. New furniture includes “stylish” windows and doors, wooden finishes for kitchen cabinets, and even a brand-new pirate ship playground for the little ones.

Additionally, on February 4th, The Sims 4 will unveil a new limited-time Blast from the Past event, granting players four weeks of challenges that unlock “iconic items from the 2000s,” such as a milk carton, telephone, alarm clock, birthday cake, and inflatable chairs. The Sims FreePlay is set to feature a similarly themed event on mobile. To wrap up the celebrations on February 4th, EA will host a 25-hour livestream starting at 10 PM GMT, showcasing Simmers and various special guests reflecting on The Sims’ influence over the years.

Before this, there is yet another free update scheduled for release soon.

This update introduces several fresh features that were previously playtested as part of EA’s recent The Sims Labs initiative. For example, there’s a new main menu, placing your currently active Sim family front and center, and the homes of all townies in Willow Creek and Oasis Springs – including those of the Pancakes, Goths, Calientes, Landgraabs, and BFFs – have been rebuilt and refreshed using some of the items added to the iconic game over the years. A significant portion of these new enhancements will be implemented in EA’s
