After the launch of last year’s well-received Broken Sword: Shadow of the Templars remaster, developer Revolution Software has hinted at a similar “reforged” treatment for the beloved point-and-click adventure’s 1997 follow-up, Broken Sword 2: The Smoking Mirror.

Last year’s Broken Sword: Shadow of the Templars Reforged revitalized the original 1996 installment of the series – where American tourist George Stobbart teams up with journalist Nicole Collard to uncover a global conspiracy – enhancing it with 4K backdrops, redesigned sprites, improved audio, and more.

The outcome – which was released for PC, Xbox, and PlayStation last September (with a Switch version following shortly after) – was very well-received by fans, and Revolution has now suggested it is preparing to give Broken Sword 2 a similar upgrade.

As noted by GameWatcher, Revolution Software head (and Broken Sword designer) Charles Cecil concluded the studio’s recent Christmas recap video by flipping through concept art created for Broken Sword: Shadow of the Templars Reforged. However, one last illustration appeared at the end of the stack – one showcasing different designs for George Stobbart’s shorts-and-sunglasses outfit, used as he ventures through the Central American city of Quaramonte in Broken Sword 2.

At that moment, Cecil offered a lively shrug to the camera before the video cut to a close-up of George’s holiday attire, just in case it wasn’t clear enough the first time around.

A Reforged version of Broken Sword 2: The Smoking Mirror would undoubtedly be warmly welcomed by fans (especially since it has been fifteen years since the game’s last remaster), yet it’s uncertain when Revolution might get around to it. The studio is still hard at work on its upcoming
