Top PS5 Games That Dominated Downloads in December 2024

Sony has revealed the top-downloaded PlayStation 5 games for December 2024, and unsurprisingly, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 continues to dominate the No. 1 position. It’s simply the leading franchise of the moment, and players keep returning to it each month.

EA Sports and 2K games also had great performances in December, with NBA 2K25, EA Sports Madden NFL 25, and EA Sports FC 25 making the top 5. The outlier in that group was the perennial favorite Grand Theft Auto 5, perhaps because gamers are eagerly anticipating Grand Theft Auto 6 later this year.

Last month’s second-place game, Phasmophobia, fell all the way to seventh place in December, while Hogwarts Legacy, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, and Astro Bot completed the top 10.

Among the most downloaded PS4 titles last month, Red Dead Redemption 2 ousted Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 to reclaim the No. 1 spot. A few titles appeared on both the PS5 and PS4 lists, but the selection was primarily filled with the console’s classic favorites such as Batman: Arkham Knight and God of War.

Marvel Rivals sprinted to the top of PS5’s free-to-play games in its debut month, dethroning Fortnite in the process. Beat Saber crowned the most downloaded PSVR 2 game to round off 2024. However, Sony did not include any PSVR games in the list for December.
