Wonder Rivals Surpasses GTA 5 in Steam Concurrent Player Count
It is also larger than Apex Legends, Fallout 4, and Helldivers 2.
We already knew that Wonder Rivals had confirmed impressive popularity since its launch last month – with 10 million players joining at the start – but now it has achieved yet another milestone, reaching 600K concurrent players this weekend on Steam.
As noted by SteamDB, the number of players diving into NetEase’s hero shooter has soared to 644,269 on Valve’s digital platform, making it not only one of the top games of the weekend but also one of the most remarkable games in terms of concurrent player counts throughout history.
With only Counter-Strike 2, PUBG, and Dota 2 boasting more concurrent players in the last 24 hours, Marvel Rivals’ 644,269 simultaneous players secures its place in Steam history as the 14th highest game by active player count.
This figure surpasses Apex Legends‘ all-time concurrent peak on Steam (578,569), Fallout 4 (472,962), Helldivers 2 (458,709), and Grand Theft Auto 5 (364,548).
“NetEase’s take on the hero battler is intricate and addictive, but seldom genuinely enjoyable,” our Chris mentioned in Eurogamer’s review of Wonder Rivals. “Its most significant impact is a renewed appreciation for the competitors that excel in this genre.” He rated it with two out of five stars.
The update for Wonder Rivals seemingly eliminated the ability to use mods on PC as of yesterday.
Wonder Rivals has been in Season 0 since its release last month, and yesterday marked the launch of the hero shooter’s first season, introducing significant balance adjustments along with the iconic Fantastic Four characters: Mr. Incredible, the Invisible Woman, and the Human Torch.
