Could it be that FF16 is set to receive a surprise launch as well?!
Today, we have shared a speculation originating from Nate the Hate’s podcast regarding several Xbox exclusive titles transitioning to PS5 and Nintendo Switch 2, but there’s something additional he brought up concerning the Final Fantasy franchise on Xbox.
Even though the podcast is called “predictions”, he states at one point that he “can confirm” Final Fantasy 7 Remake and Rebirth will be arriving on Xbox in 2025 and 2026, respectively. Here’s the full quote:
“I believe that after the announcement of Final Fantasy 16 [for Xbox], we will see Square Enix verify that Final Fantasy 7 Remake and Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth will be making their way to Xbox. My guess is that this revelation will occur during the Developer Direct. I want to clarify that part.”
“However, I can confirm that Final Fantasy 7 Remake and Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth will be available on Xbox. Final Fantasy 7 Remake is scheduled for a 2025 release, with Rebirth following in 2026. These games will also be launched on Nintendo Switch 2.”
As previously mentioned, there is another aspect to consider. Although he did not explicitly state it, Nate implies that he is “kind of expecting” to see Final Fantasy 16 featured during the Xbox Developer Direct event this month – with the possibility of the game being secretly released on the same day. Nevertheless, this still seems to leans more towards speculation.
We won’t have to wait long to discover if Final Fantasy does appear at the Xbox Developer Direct, as that event is set for less than two weeks from now on January twenty-third. Regardless of the outcome, we sincerely hope this speculation is on point!
