As the gaming community anticipates Nintendo’s official announcement of the Switch 2, speculation continues to circulate. A reputable source has claimed that Microsoft will be a “very strong supporter” of the console, launching two major Xbox titles for Switch 2 this year, alongside Halo.

This information comes from podcaster NateTheHate (thanks to VGC), who notably broke the story about Microsoft intending to release some of its first-party titles across multiple platforms early last year. Of course, this turned out to be accurate; Sea of Thieves, Hi-Fi Rush, Grounded, and Pentiment are now available on PS5, with the latter two also on Switch.

NateTheHate now predicts Microsoft’s cross-platform strategy will extend to Switch 2, asserting that the company will be a “very strong supporter”, releasing two Xbox titles on the platform – Flight Simulator and Halo: The Master Chief Collection – in 2025. It is also reported that both will be available for PS5, joining other Xbox first-party games – notably Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, Doom: The Dark Ages, and The Outer Worlds 2 – which are already confirmed for Sony’s console.

NateTheHate suggests that Microsoft will also be “porting and updating [its] current Switch titles” for Switch 2, enhancing features like 4K support, and he “would not be astonished if Sea of Thieves, and perhaps Hi-Fi Rush, also make their transition.” Previously, it was reported that Hi-Fi Rush would bypass the current version of Switch in favor of Switch 2, although this was before Microsoft’s closure of developer Tango Gameworks and its subsequent acquisition by Krafton.

Regarding other, non-Microsoft releases on Switch 2, NateTheHate mentions that Square Enix is set to bring Final Fantasy 7 Remake and Rebirth to Nintendo’s console as well as Xbox Series X/S, with the Remake expected to arrive this year and Rebirth in 2026. This isn’t particularly surprising, as Square Enix confirmed last year that it was “aggressively pursuing” a new cross-platform strategy following reports of Rebirth underperforming on PlayStation 5.

Clearly, before any of this can materialize, Nintendo needs to officially unveil Switch 2 – though by the time it eventually does, there might not be much left that we don’t already know. Numerous reports and leaks about Switch 2 have emerged in recent weeks, allegedly showcasing everything from the console’s design elements to its logo. And while Nintendo did briefly break its silence earlier today amidst the anticipation.
