Candy Crush is adding another achievement to its portfolio. Instead of introducing a fresh twist on the match-three puzzle genre, Candy Crush Solitaire will infuse the franchise’s sugary charm into the classic card game. This will be the first Candy Crush title to debut following Microsoft’s acquisition of the developer, King.

Candy Crush Solitaire is rooted in tripeaks solitaire, where players are required to clear three “peaks” of cards. The game will include familiar power-ups from Candy Crush, such as jelly fish, the lollipop hammer, the color bomb, and the UFO. They will provide similar, though not identical, abilities to their match-three versions. Like other Candy Crush titles, the traditional solitaire mechanics will be adjusted and enhanced as players make progress.

Candy Crush Solitaire is set to launch globally on February 6. Players can pre-register now on their preferred app store and will receive some in-game bonuses: 5,000 Coins, four undos, two fish cards, and three color bomb cards.

Back in 2022, during the early stages of Microsoft’s completed acquisition of Activision Blizzard (which included King within its portfolio), Xbox leader Phil Spencer stated that the purchase was largely driven by King, and by extension, the mobile sector, rather than console titles like Call of Duty. Since Microsoft’s acquisition, Xbox has emphasized this focus.
