Nintendo’s Game Boy Takes a Playful Turn with New LEGO Collaboration
And it’s set to arrive later this year.
Nintendo’s exciting strategy of revealing something entirely different from Switch 2 continues today with the announcement that its popular Game Boy handheld will receive the Lego treatment later this year.
This isn’t the first time Nintendo has collaborated with Lego, of course; the two companies have already launched a wide array of interactive Mario-themed sets, and The Legend of Zelda’s Great Deku Tree was also transformed into Lego last year. Furthermore, it’s not the first instance of a Nintendo console being brought to life with small plastic bricks; a Lego version of the original Nintendo Entertainment System was released back in 2020 – and it was quite a fun build too.
Now it’s the Game Boy’s turn, as revealed in the brief video tease shared across Nintendo’s social media platforms. As the teaser plays, we see a selection of Lego pieces gracefully floating in soft focus on the screen, but unfortunately, there’s no view of the complete Lego design just yet.
Not that it would be too difficult to imagine. Fans have been crafting their own Game Boys out of Lego for some time now, such as this impressive creation by video editor and Lego Masters Australia finalist Nick.
