Season 2 of Apple TV’s acclaimed psychological thriller Severance is receiving rave reviews from critics in anticipation of its January 17 premiere. If you need to catch up or refresh your recollection, Amazon currently has a fantastic deal on the newly released Blu-ray of Severance Season 1. This may be an excellent opportunity to subscribe to Apple TV+. Alongside Severance, Mythic Quest Season 4 debuts later this month (January 29), followed by the spin-off anthology series Aspect Quest in March. Severance was GameSpot’s selection for the best TV show of 2022. This sci-fi series is set in the near future where advancements in technology permit individuals to “sever” their work memories from their personal lives. The advantage for those who undergo this process is that they live their lives without ever recalling their work (or any unpleasant experiences, as the story gradually begins to reveal). However, practically, this results in severed individuals being essentially two people—they are one person in their outside lives, referred to as an “outie,” and a different person, or “innie,” while at work, since their work persona never experiences anything except work. It’s akin to falling asleep the moment you exit the office and waking up the instant you return.

Throughout the nine episodes of the first season, this leads to some rather eerie and dystopian scenarios, infused with a dose of corporate culture satire. Severance is both humorous and unsettling in equal parts, which is part of what makes it so compelling.

Apple TV+ series typically see Blu-ray releases, especially in the US. Its most popular breakout series, Ted Lasso, is available on Blu-ray, with the complete series—Ted Lasso: The Richmond Way—offered on Amazon for $60 (was $85).

Other Apple TV favorites, like For
“`All Mankind, Seek, The Morning Show, and Fact Be Urged have all made their agreements for physical media, but are considered the best in the UK. Therefore, if you have an interest in Severance, it is wise to take advantage of the physical release, as there is a possibility that it could one day vanish from Apple’s streaming service, similar to what can happen on other platforms.
