Xbox Cloud Gaming Set to Launch on LG Smart TVs
Launching “later this year”.
Microsoft’s initiative to provide Xbox gaming without necessitating users to purchase Xbox hardware is set to advance in 2025, as Xbox Cloud Gaming support officially arrives on LG TVs.
Commencing “later this year,” LG TV users will presumably be able to download the Xbox app and enjoy “hundreds” of titles from the Game Pass Ultimate library through cloud streaming, including Obsidian Entertainment’s forthcoming Avowed (set to launch in February) and Eurogamer’s Game of the Year 2024, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle.
Microsoft indicates that the Xbox app on LG TVs will also support the recently introduced feature allowing users to stream “selected” Xbox games they already possess – from the current list of “over 50” titles – even if they are not currently accessible as part of Game Pass.
In all cases, an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription is necessary (starting at £14.99 per month), along with a “supported” LG Smart TV. Microsoft’s initial announcement did not specify which TVs will be compatible with the service, but it does state that additional details will be provided in the “coming months”.
The introduction of Xbox Cloud Gaming on LG TVs follows its launch on Amazon Fire TV devices last year and on Samsung TVs in 2022. Xbox chief Phil Spencer previously confirmed the Xbox expansion plans.
