As surprising as it may seem, this month’s latest DC Lego sets features the first Superman building set in over a decade. The Superman Mech vs. Lex Luthor, precisely what it indicates, joins a very limited selection of Superman Lego items. There have been a few minifigure releases, including a Lego keychain that’s easily accessible, however in terms of genuine building kits, this is the first one since Superman vs. Power Armor Lex in 2012. The only other Superman building set is a 2014 Duplo playset. With the new Superman film arriving in theaters this July, Clark Kent’s comeback to the Lego universe couldn’t have come at a better moment.

Superman Mech vs. Lex Luthor is one of three new DC Lego sets released this month. The other two sets revolve around Lego favorite Batman, including a brand new small-scale playset featuring the Batmobile Tumbler from The Dark Knight.

You can explore all three of the new Lego DC building sets below. For further information on Lego’s 100-plus releases in January 2025, check out our roundups focusing on Lego Marvel, Star Wars, Mario Kart, Animal Crossing, and Harry Potter.

Lego DC – Superman Mech vs. Lex Luthor (120 Pieces)

$15

It has been a remarkable year for Superman enthusiasts, and to kick off the excitement for the forthcoming movie directed by James Gunn, you can grab a Lego set that encases the Man of Steel inside a steel mech (which is actually plastic). The 120-piece Superman Mech vs. Lex Luthor Lego set is priced at just $15.

Lego has introduced a variety of these buildable mech models with movable joints in recent years. Last summer, Batman received his own mech, along with numerous Marvel-themed variants, including the recently launched Spider-Man and Iron Man mechs.

However, it’s worth noting that this Superman Lego set is only the second official Lego building set featuring the iconic hero. Interestingly, the previously mentioned Superman vs. Powered Armor Lex building set essentially flips this concept; that kit had Lex Luthor in control of a mech, towering over a minifigure Superman. Now, the roles are reversed, with Superman standing tall over the Lex minifigure.

Lego DC – Batman Tumbler vs. Two-Face and The Joker (429 Pieces)

$60

Lego discontinued the large-scale Batmobile Tumbler model kit towards the end of last year. If you didn’t manage to purchase it or weren’t willing to spend over $270 to add it to your collection, this new set might be ideal for you. It’s more of a playset than an elaborate model, but Batman Tumbler vs. Two-Face and The Joker still looks quite impressive given its modest piece count of 429. This set includes Batman, Joker, and Two-Face minifigures, along with a (non-functional) Bat-Signal projector.

There are numerous other Batmobile Lego sets—along with Batcycle kits—to consider, including the 1,822-piece Classic Batmobile inspired by the 1966 TV series. This particular one has been hard to find in stock, but it is currently available at Target for the retail price of $150. For something different, there’s the Lego Batman Building Set and Bat-Pod Bike, which is on sale for $52 at Amazon. This 713-piece kit features a buildable Batman action figure along with his motorcycle from The Dark Knight trilogy.
