Skyblivion Project Approaches Finale: A Call for Volunteers to Complete the Vision
A community-driven initiative that is recreating Oblivion utilizing Skyrim‘s engine, known as Skyblivion, has appropriately revealed its latest development roadmap. The project is nearly finished and is on track for its anticipated 2025 release, giving us yet another game to look forward to next year.
In the video presentation, the speaker mentions, “we’re finalizing the world map, with only the Nibene region along Cyrodiil’s eastern boundary remaining.” This is quite an achievement, as Oblivion is roughly 33% larger than Skyrim, yet eight out of nine regions have been completely remapped. The town of Anvil has also been “re-imagined to match its original concept art.”
The interiors of various buildings and locations have also been completed, showcasing remarkable progress with the sewers and watchtowers fully furnished. The team is currently concentrating on quest locations, which “demand more time and planning” compared to other areas.

The vast majority of the game’s 3D assets, such as trees, foes, and armor, have been successfully recreated. There are a total of 2508 objects that need remaking, making it an extensive undertaking. The speaker invites any 3D artists interested in botany and flora to apply and lend a hand in finishing the game over time.
Regarding quests, “we had over 100 quests yet to be initiated last year. Today, only six remain untouched.” Earlier this year, we observed a glimpse at two of the refreshed quests, and they look remarkable.
The original soundtrack from the game has been incorporated, along with some new compositions being added as well.
It’s important to note that primarily the main game of Oblivion has been focused on so far to ensure the release in 2025, and the team will consider DLC once the game is live. This project has been active since 2018, marking it as a truly lengthy endeavor, and the team is still seeking volunteers for assistance. If you believe you can contribute, feel free to apply here.
