Six of which are available on Xbox
Apologies for bringing up a negative topic just after the holiday season (!), but considering we recently featured Metacritic’s best Xbox games of the year, in addition to the Pure Xbox Game of the Year, we are curious to examine the worst as well!
However, things can be a bit intricate with Metacritic, as their “Worst Games” list only includes titles that have received a minimum of four professional reviews. Occasionally, a game available on Xbox may not appear on the list if it has only garnered four reviews for, let’s say, PS5, and sometimes a game simply receives better ratings on certain platforms!
So, here are the ten lowest-rated video games (with at least four professional reviews) according to Metacritic:
- Utopia Metropolis (23 – PC)
- Dante May Cry: Peak of Combat (41 – Mobile)
- HappyFunland (43 – PSVR2)
- Food Truck Simulator (Xbox – 43)
- Jujutsu Kaisen: Cursed Clash (44 – PS5)
- Stranger Things VR (44 – Meta Quest)
- Transformers: Galactic Trials (45 – PS5)
- PO’ed: Definitive Edition (46 – PC)
- Looney Tunes: Wacky World of Sports (47 – PS5)
- Metal Slug Assault Reloaded (48 – Nintendo Switch)
If we focus solely on Xbox titles, there are a few other disappointing performances this year, including Star Wars: Battlefront Classic Collection, Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown, and even Taxi Life: A City Driving Simulator.
Overall, however, it hasn’t been an exceptionally shocking year for “bad” games on Xbox. You’re inevitably going to encounter a few poor titles, but looking at this list, combined with the numerous enjoyable titles we’ve experienced in 2024, we’re quite pleased overall!
