Palworld might potentially be facing a lawsuit from Nintendo, yet Pocketpair isn’t allowing that to ruin the festive season – the developer recently released a significant update that effectively distances the monster-hunting survival game from Pokemon.
The Feybreak update acts like a mini-revolution for Palworld, shaking up and reorganizing many of the game’s essential elements. Besides introducing the new island Feybreak, the update modifies how Buddy Spheres operate, which Pocketpair began differentiating from Pokeballs earlier this month, by adding “modules” that change a Sphere’s path and, consequently, its capturing success rate.
In addition to various modifications to weapons, designs, bug fixes, and more, the Feybreak update prominently introduces Vicious Predator Guests that invade Palworld, offering opportunities for intense encounters, a Random Buddy Mode for unpredictable spawns, and a Hardcore Mode that permits permadeath.
Overall, fans are reacting as though they’re experiencing snow for the very first time.
“This lawsuit hasn’t deterred you, I notice,” comments one user on the Feybreak update’s YouTube trailer. “Smaller developers would have buckled under pressure by now. You exhibit courage in the face of adversity, and I commend you for that.”
“I speak for everyone here when I say we are proud of you for making this the finest game in its category,” adds another user on Steam. “Palworld embodies everything Pokemon should aspire to be, but sadly the franchise is controlled by greedy […] individuals. I sincerely hope Nintendo loses! I want justice for Palworld.”
Nintendo is notoriously aggressive with legal matters. For instance, Switch hacker Gary Bowser faced 14 months in prison and had to pay $14.5 million in reparations. The developer currently holds a valuation exceeding $70 billion, while Bowser is still on the path to regaining some sense of normalcy with the help of a GoFundMe page.
