Crafting the Ultimate 2D PC Strategy Game: A Vision for All Gamers
Since its inception in 2019, League of Legends spinoff Teamfight Tactics has rapidly ascended to become one of the most popular titles globally. While it may not surpass League for the top spot, its developers assert that second place is exactly where they aspire to be.
In a conversation with GamesRadar+, TFT game designer Julien Camaraza discussed the game’s position within the larger gaming realm and its significance for many players. “Currently, the last time I checked, a majority of our player base engages with both League and TFT,” he states. “We often aim to be everyone’s secondary favorite game, the title you enjoy when you’re not immersed in your primary game. I believe that’s an excellent position to hold. Most gamers tend to enjoy multiple titles.”
A vital factor contributing to the game’s achievement, according to Camaraza, is its deep connection with League of Legends. “League of Legends and TFT utilize the same client, so if you have a frustrating game of League, you can easily transition to TFT,” he clarifies. “You don’t even need to launch a new .exe, and that’s fantastic. This creates a really solid relationship with that team. Thus, I think we’re currently in a very good and healthy situation.”
When asked if the TFT team dreams of one day surpassing their sibling game, Camaraza remains steadfast.
