A plethora of incredible games available for selection!

Based on the last several years, it seems we are nearing a month away from Microsoft launching yet another Developer Direct; their now-annual event that explores some of the year’s top Xbox games in detail. Although next year’s event has yet to be officially announced, we see no reason why Xbox wouldn’t host another one – especially when considering the potential lineup for 2025 from Team Green.

Honestly, even if you only focus on the Xbox games that have confirmed release windows for 2025, you’ll find an impressive collection to choose from. Titles like DOOM: The Dark Ages, Fable, South of Midnight, Avowed, and The Outer Worlds 2 are already scheduled for next year – and it’s almost certainly guaranteed that there will be another Call of Duty installment at the year’s end as well.

While the latter is typically reserved for later in the year due to the recent release of Black Ops 6, that still gives us five games to consider right now – plus, there’s an immense number of upcoming Xbox titles that may not have specific 2025 timelines yet. Games like Clockwork Revolution, Gears of War: E-Day, Everwild, and State of Decay 3 might certainly show up here too – all of these projects should be relatively advanced at this point.

As we mentioned right at the start, Developer Direct ’25 hasn’t been officially confirmed yet, but we are already hearing some buzz about its potential online. Renowned journalist Tom Warren recently stated that he’s “anticipating” an Xbox event next month, and we are even seeing speculation about what might be featured – including DOOM: The Dark Ages with a probable May 2025 release date. While this isn’t confirmed, it would truly be fantastic to receive a new DOOM installment in the first half of next year!

If you look back to last year’s line-up, Avowed, Hellblade 2, Ara: History Untold, and Indiana Jones and the Great Circle were the main Xbox titles featured – alongside a surprise showcase from Square Enix with Visions of Mana. Except for Avowed, all of these games made it out in 2024 as well, with the Obsidian RPG being delayed solely because of how packed Microsoft’s Fall 2024 schedule was.

We will definitely keep you updated with any news if and when Microsoft announces an Xbox Developer Direct for 2025, but we can’t help but get excited for the possibilities of such an event already. Last year’s showcase was announced on January 9th and took place on January 18th, so it shouldn’t be too long before we know for certain!
