On the thirteenth anniversary of the Vita, no less
Publisher Bandai Namco has unveiled the opening cinematic for the forthcoming Freedom Wars Remastered on the Switch.
Set to launch on January 10, 2025, this title is an upgraded version of the original from 2014 on the PS Vita. In what could either be an incredible coincidence or a strategic move, the release of the opening video coincidentally falls exactly 13 years after the Japanese debut of the PS Vita on December 17, 2011. Bravo!
Regarding the video itself, the visual advancements over the original game are quite striking; however, we will have to wait and see how it truly performs on the Switch. There’s a possibility that the video is running on either the PS5 or a PC, and it’s important to note that it may not represent actual gameplay footage.
Nonetheless, we are incredibly excited to check this out. Freedom Wars draws inspiration from the gameplay of Monster Hunter, allowing players to take down enormous foes using a grappling whip, all in a bid to reduce your one-million-year prison sentence in a unique, sci-fi dystopian setting.
Born into a one-million-year prison sentence, you must survive perilous missions to have any chance of liberation. Die in jail or live to recount your battles. The choice is yours.
