Okami and Onimusha are setting the precedent
Several of the most delightful revelations at this year’s Game Awards were delivered by the renowned Japanese video game company Capcom, with the resurgence of beloved franchises like Okami and Onimusha.
In an official announcement on its dedicated website, Capcom has confirmed that this is all part of a strategy to focus on “reviving inactive IPs” within its catalog that “have not seen a new title launch in some time”.
“The organization is striving to enhance corporate value by utilizing its extensive library of content, which includes revitalizing past IPs like the aforementioned titles (Onimusha, Okami), to consistently generate highly effective, top-quality games.”
