The Elden Ring developers are organizing a community test for their forthcoming cooperative spin-off, Nightreign.

This test will occur in February, serving as a “preliminary examination” for a select few testers. As you might expect, individuals who wish to secure a spot in the community test will have the opportunity to experience a portion of the game prior to its release.

I know quite a few individuals who are eager to give this a try (ahem, Ed).

“A variety of technical evaluations of online systems will be explored by implementing large-scale network stress tests,” states the Elden Ring: Nightreign information page.

Individuals interested in participating in the upcoming community test will be able to register for this opportunity starting January 10th. According to the test’s webpage, it will be available on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S consoles.

“Steady your determination, Nightfarers,” the Elden Ring team communicated via social media.

As Ed reported last night, players who jump into Elden Ring: Nightreign upon its launch will need to “survive a three-day-and-night cycle, making quick choices about combat and exploration across shifting maps to become strong enough to defeat formidable bosses at the end of each day”.

This may lead players back to the Roundtable Hold, however the game will unfold in a parallel realm to Elden Ring. At Nightreign’s launch, there will be eight unique characters for players to choose from, and each night the map will decrease in size. And, undoubtedly, there will be numerous foes to combat.

“Every session will culminate in the third night when they must confront the designated Nightlord,” reads the spin-off’s official description. “Players can challenge the night alone, but strength is best found in numbers. Nightfarers will need to learn to collaborate to overcome these challenges, merging their formidable abilities together for an extraordinary experience within the Elden Ring universe.

“All is not lost for those who meet defeat; unsuccessful attempts will provide players with relics that will enable them to customize and enhance their characters to match their own play styles.”
