“At this moment, it’s challenging to provide a definitive answer.”
One of the major highlights from last night’s Game Awards was the unveiling of Elden Ring: Nightreign, a brand new standalone, cooperative Elden Ring experience set to launch next year on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
Our fortunate friends over at IGN had the opportunity to interview the game’s director, Junya Ishizaki, and one of the queries focused on the game’s potential release for Nintendo’s upcoming console successor. This is certainly a valid question, especially since the three-player PvE adventure is also arriving on previous-generation platforms like the PS4 and Xbox One.
Interestingly, it seems that either Ishizaki is being remarkably tight-lipped, or FromSoftware hasn’t even contemplated the Switch 2 at this stage.
The director responded:
I’m afraid we know nothing about the Switch 2 at this point either. So it’s difficult to give a clear answer right now. Apologies.
Given that Nintendo has yet to officially announce its next console, it’s understandable why Ishizaki would prefer to navigate such inquiries delicately. While this is certainly all speculation on our part, one could surmise that Elden Ring might be a viable contender for release on Switch 2 – and this potentially includes Nightreign as well.
What are your thoughts? Do you believe that a studio like FromSoftware genuinely has no insight into Switch 2? Could we see Elden Ring, along with its DLC, and Nightreign on Nintendo systems by 2025? Share your opinions in the comments below.
