Following a series of The Last of Us-themed remasters over the years, Naughty Dog‘s Neil Druckmann acknowledges that you are eager for something fresh in Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet. Before that, The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered is set to arrive on PC next year.

“We’re all excited to introduce The Last of Us Part 2 to the PC community, featuring all the fantastic new elements we’ve included in the Remastered edition for PS5,” game director Matthew Fearless states.

“We hope that players will relish the compelling narrative, intricate combat mechanics, in-depth behind-the-scenes commentary, and challenge themselves in the roguelike mode No Return. We’re dedicated to making sure the game feels fantastic on this new platform, delivering the high performance and strong features that PC gamers anticipate.”

The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered will be available for your personal computer on April 3, 2025. This release will make Naughty Dog’s beloved series more accessible than ever, which is clear, even if I think it’s last year’s events that have fans more eager.

Since The Last of Us debuted in 2013, we have witnessed the post-apocalyptic journey remastered in 2014, followed by a greater reboot with The Last of Us Part 1 in 2022. During this period, we also experienced a new title in 2020’s The Last of Us Part 2, which was remastered four years later. We also received Uncharted 4 and a variety of DLC for both series over the past decade, but a trend of remakes and remasters has certainly taken hold among fans.

All this to say, when Naughty Dog appeared at The Game Awards 2024 with a trailer for something new in Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, fans were thrilled to see something fresh from the studio that wasn’t just another remaster of a title we had played recently.

The sentiment among Naughty Dog enthusiasts is something Neil Druckmann is acutely aware of, telling the NY Times (paywalled) that Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet had been a closely guarded secret.

Weekly updates, stories from the communities you care about, and more

“It’s genuinely challenging to work on these things under wraps for so many years,” he remarks, “and then to see our fans express on social media, ‘Enough with the remasters and remakes! Where are your new games and new IPs?'”

Then, with what I believe is a sense of relief, he adds, “We are finally beginning to unveil this project.”

Naughty Dog has yet to provide a release date.
